Mayor's Office

Dear Visitors,

It is my personal pleasure and privilege to extend to you a warm and inviting welcome to the City of Greenville.  Through our newly designed website, we hope to communicate effectively with the citizens and visitors of our community, providing knowledge and insight into what services are available in our city.  We hope you will like what you see and find here.

The City of Greenville, known as The Camellia City, is located along Interstate 65 at Exits 130 and 128 in Butler County.  We offer many amenities usually found in larger cities, while having the friendliness and warmth of a small community.  Greenville’s industrial base is diverse and continues to experience economic growth.  We are fortunate to have such industries as Coastal Forest Products, Hwashin America Corporation, Hyundai Steel, Ozark Materials and Structural Wood Systems to name a few.  Our hospital, Regional Medical Center of Central Alabama, is now operating under UAB management and is providing healthcare for all Butler County and surrounding areas.

We have much to offer our citizens and visitors, including an 8 screen movie theatre, a YMCA facility, dance and fitness options, taekwondo, annual events sponsored by our Chamber of Commerce.  Fishing and camping at our Sherling Lake Campground is an option for outdoor lovers.  If golf is your game, head out to Cambrian Ridge to play at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail or enjoy a meal while admiring the majestic beauty of the rolling hills.  Our new Lodge at Sherling Lake serves as a gathering place for many occasions and has a pristine view of the lake and surrounding golf course.  Downtown you will find beautifully displayed flowers adorning wonderful gift shops, art classes, a yoga studio, home décor shops, hair salons, clothing stores and several eateries including a bakery.  We are also proud of our historic residential district and a wide variety of retail and commercial offerings.  Our historical and beautifully renovated Ritz Theatre is located downtown where plays, concerts, pageants and our annual “Puttin’ on the Ritz” performances are held.

Greenvillians value the quality of a safe and hospitable town.  Yes, we are diverse, but have accomplished much in the past.  Both City and County officials continue to work alongside each other to make sure Greenville offers a brighter future for all.

I personally invite you to enjoy all our community has to offer and in the process hope you will see what makes Greenville a wonderful place to live or visit.

Mayor Dexter McLendon
