The City of Greenville has a national accolade to be proud of as Beeland Park Camellia Garden has been named as an American Camellia Trail Garden. Greenville is one of sixty-five gardens with the National Camellia Trail designation. The garden, which is owned and operated by the City of Greenville, boasts a beautiful variety of camellias, some of which were originally planted by the city and residents of Greenville in 1944. The eight-acre garden holds more than 300 varieties of camellia trees, some nearly 70-years-old.
The garden's Soon to Bloom project, which is a partnership between the City of Greenville, the Chamber of Commerce, and the Sasanqua Garden Club, includes a renovation and creation of a soft pathway for self and guided tours of the garden, a salt kettle fountain, picnic table area, open amphitheater area for entertainment, and an enchanted forest natural children's area to be used for outdoor activities and educational purposes. The gardens are open to the public year round.
